About Sponsorship
Orphans’ Heroes makes it possible to get to know the kids I sponsor on a personal level. I even have the opportunity to go and meet them, which I’m doing this summer. I'm not at a place in my life where I can adopt children, but it's something that I've always wanted to do. To me, this is the first step in being committed to making a difference in an orphan's life. It's a way that I, as a single young woman, can make a difference. It's so much more to me than giving money. It's a relationship.

How does my sponsorship make a difference?
Orphans’ Heroes currently supports sponsorship of children in Ghana, Kenya, and the Congo. Our primary focus is to provide educational sponsorship to ensure that children will be able to attend school, but in some circumstances, we also provide other basic necessities like food provisions, housing, and healthcare. Sponsorship fees will vary depending upon the school or orphanage in which the child is enrolled.
Many children in these countries do not attend school because their families cannot afford the basic necessities –– school supplies, books, uniforms, and lunch fees –– for their children to attend government school. Children who have lost their parents are at a higher risk of not attending school. Some become street children, or are used as day laborers. Others are often taken in by extended family members, thus becoming a financial burden on families that are already struggling. In many cases, even the minimum costs to attend government school are more than the family can afford.
Sometimes, families will save up enough money for their children to enroll in one school term, and then the children will have to drop out of school to work for a few months and save up money to enroll in another term. Orphans’ Heroes helps to bridge the gap for orphaned and vulnerable children to give them a chance to go to school, and consistently stay enrolled in school.
What do I receive as a child sponsor?
• An introductory “thank you” letter from Orphans’ Heroes with a photo of your child.
• A minimum of two updates about your child during the year.
• The option of visiting your child.

Volunteering is encouraged in all of the programs supported by Orphans’ Heroes, and is a wonderful way for you to meet your sponsored child and become more involved in a program that is transforming the lives of children.
